Welcome

Welcome to the University of Florida Ceramics Department in the School of Art + Art History.  The University of Florida in Gainesville is located in the heart of beautiful North Central Florida, situated between the Atlantic Ocean and the Gulf of Mexico.    The Ceramic department is housed in the Fine Arts Complex on the Eastern edge of campus consisting of a dynamic community of undergraduate, post-baccalaureate, graduate students, faculty and administrative staff.   The ceramics program offers the opportunity for rigorous studio performance by connecting both technical and conceptual challenges in an encouraging and engaging environment. Students in the Ceramics program have active contact with the faculty and are encouraged in cross disciplinary study.  Outside of the classroom, students participate in the student organization H.O.T Clay (hand built or thrown).  This is an energetic club that sponsors a wide variety of events, such as visiting artist workshops, gallery exhibitions, pottery sales and annual travel to the national ceramic conference sponsored by the National Council of Education in the Ceramic Arts.
